Get your Mojo back at Moyo
Moyo Island at the mouth of Saleh Bay, is about 3 kilometers off the north coast of Sumbawa Island and is a haven for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The hilly island’s forest is filled with a variety of animal life, from deer and macaque monkeys to wild boar as well as sea eagles, kite and osprey that take claim the island’s skies.
With relatively few inhabitants on the island two thirds of Moyo is a nature reserve named Moyo Island Hunting Park. The central plateau with its grassy savannah and sparse forested area is home to a large variety of fauna and flora and a number of walking trails with guides for trekking are available.
The coastline has some beautiful white beaches of fine coral sand creating the post card perfect image as well as offering some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in Indonesia, with pristine reefs boasting a rich array of sea life. Jungle treks on Moyo offer guests the chance to discover waterfalls and a variety of birdlife. The island is also home to a Deer Sanctuary for the indigenous Rusa Deer.
